Product Portfolio Manager: Technical

Role Description

The “product portfolio manager: technical” will oversee the end-to-end delivery of product portfolio development, rollouts, and other related services. The prospect will lead multiple technical product teams to ensure the timely and successful execution of products and meet performance, quality standards, and market expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the development engineering to achieve the planned objectives of the product portfolio.
  • Consult with the product owners, business analysts, quality assurance, and infrastructure teams to ensure that the development is aligned with organization goals.
  • Employ agile project management and engineering practices to control the scope, time, and cost of the development.
  • Comprehend product challenges and innovate solutions for achieving development objectives with greater efficiency.
  • Manage (planning, execution, and delivery) forecasted product development and rollout goals.
  • Collaborate closely with teams as a subject matter expert who can answer questions raised by the technical/developer community.
  • Define product success criteria vis-a-vis testing and post-launch sequences.
  • Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and guidance to a team of technical professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Effectively allocate resources, including personnel, budget, and technology infrastructure, to support product delivery and organizational goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and senior management, providing regular updates on status, risks, and issues.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues, implementing proactive measures to ensure product success and minimize disruptions.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards and best practices for technical delivery, conducting regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and partners involved in product delivery, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of technology trends, tools, and methodologies relevant to product delivery, providing guidance and recommendations for technical solutions and enhancements.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor product engineering performance, conduct regular assessments, and report to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the technical delivery function, driving initiatives to streamline workflows and improve productivity.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science.
  • 15+ years of proven experience in a leadership role within the IT or fintech industry
  • Strong understanding of product management methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Cloud-native/agnostic product development experience is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with architecture and design patterns.
  • In-depth experience in Java, No SQL, Micro Services, and APIs.
  • Deeper knowledge of DevSecOps.
  • Extensive knowledge of agile practices.
  • Strong exposure to Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud-native and cloud-agnostic infrastructure.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and overcome challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple products simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment towards common objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Certification in product and project management or relevant professional credentials is a plus.
