Functional Lead: Payments Switch

Role Description
The “Functional lead: Payments Switch” will be responsible for managing the functional aspects of our payments switch system to ensure seamless transaction processing, optimizing system performance, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide functional direction and leadership for the payments switch domain, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to drive system enhancements and improvements.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather and analyze the market needs and business requirements and translate them into user stories and configurations.
- Lead the functional design of payment switch features and functionalities and ensure that they align with market needs, business requirements, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure functionality and compliance.
- Ensure that the payments switch system complies with regulatory requirements and industry standards, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Manage and resolve system incidents and outages promptly, coordinating with technical teams and stakeholders to minimize disruption to operations.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and partners involved in providing payments switch-related services, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to empower team members and stakeholders with a thorough understanding of the payments switch system and processes.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, computer science, or information technology.
- Comprehensive understanding of payment switch systems, protocols, and industry standards.
- Familiarity of cross border payments
- 12+ years of proven experience in a similar role within the fintech or banking industry, with a deep focus on payment switch systems.
- Strong understanding of payment processing, payment network protocols, and payment industry standards (e.g., ISO 8583, ISO 20022, EMV).
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving system development initiatives.
- Deep understanding of the payment protocols and out-of-the-box thinking to find solutions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exposure to agile development practices.
